Join my campaign to reverse the Tories' broken promises to our local hospitals

The Conservative Government has broken its pledge to fully rebuild or refurbish St Mary’s, Hammersmith and Charing Cross hospitals by 2030, abandoning a major election promise to residents in Kensington & Bayswater.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust says this decision will be “hugely damaging for the health and healthcare of hundreds of thousands of people”.

Meet Joe Powell

Joe Powell is an anti-corruption champion who has spent his life campaigning for social justice and democracy in West London, Britain and around the world, delivering real results.

He is Deputy CEO of the Open Government Partnership, an organisation founded by Barack Obama to support democracy globally, including in Britain where Joe ran successful campaigns to force big oil, gas and mining companies to open up their books and pay their taxes.

Joe is an active and winning campaigner for a fairer Kensington. Last year, he founded the Kensington Against Dirty Money campaign that has pushed national and local governments to take action on inequality by reducing corrupt wealth in our borough, going after empty homes, and investing more in social housing.

Joe lives in Ladbroke Grove, and grew up in Queen’s Park. He is a proud member of our community. His son was born at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital and he’s a lifelong QPR fan.

My Priorities for
Kensington & Bayswater

Real help on
Cost of Living

Squeezed wages, runaway food inflation, soaring rents and mortgages, and Tory tax rises have left British households suffering.

Labour would immediately extend the windfall tax on oil and gas company profits to provide added support for households and business.

Fight for Local Hospitals

The Tories have broken their promise to rebuild or upgrade St Mary’s Paddington, Hammersmith and Charing Cross hospitals by 2030. Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust says this decision will be “hugely damaging for the health and healthcare of hundreds of thousands of people”.

I will fight for our local hospitals.

Reducing Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour

Too many of our communities suffer from anti-social behaviour and crime made worse by over a decade of cuts, including a cut of 75% to London’s Police and Community Support Officers.

I will campaign to keep Notting Hill Police Station in public hands, and Labour will prevent crime by putting 13,000 extra neighbourhood police and PCSOs on Britain’s streets.

Tackle our Housing Crisis

Rents and mortgages are through the roof, and we have a huge shortage of social housing. Labour will build 1.5 million new homes, and I will campaign against dirty money in luxury property, for leasehold reform and for Truth, Justice and Change for Grenfell bereaved and survivors.

Truth, Justice and Change for Grenfell

As your MP I will always be there to listen, support and amplify the campaign for those responsible to be held accountable, and for changes to be made to ensure this never happens again.

Taking on Dirty Money

I co-founded Kensington Against Dirty Money because we are at the epicentre of Britain’s addiction to corrupt wealth, much of it stashed in luxury property in our borough.

Taking on corruption and tax dodging will always be at the core of my mission, because it erodes our democracy, increases inequality, and means we have less public resources for health, education and other public services.

A Greener Kensington and Bayswater

The climate emergency is the greatest threat to humankind. Its effects can be felt right here in our community, in the form of flooding and extreme temperatures. Air pollution blights many of our neighbourhoods, harming our children. Labour will insulate millions of homes, and make Britain a clean energy superpower.

Locally, I’ll support schemes to reduce air pollution, and I will work with community groups and the Council to encourage more active travel like cycling and walking.

Under the Tories...

Heart Attack Victims in London are waiting 1 Hour 23 Minutes For An Ambulance

Families in Kensington & Chelsea are facing £15,000 more a year on mortgages

Local hospitals have major rebuilds and repairs delayed for years

Kensington & Bayswater cannot continue like this.

We need change.

Kensington Against Dirty Money

Dirty money is directly contributing to Kensington being the most unequal borough in the country.

Joe is campaigning to know who really owns and controls property in Kensington, and then for investigators to go after the ill gotten gains and seize properties brought with corrupt funds. Those funds should be made available to help tackle our housing crisis.

We need less dirty money in Kensington, and more investment in social housing.
